Four killed, three injured in road accidents
Four people were killed and three others injured in road accidents in four districts during the last two days, according to reports from our correspondents.
In Dinajpur, a motorcyclist was killed and his co-rider injured as a truck hit their bike from behind in Birampur upazila on Monday night, reports our correspondent.
Mamun Ur Rashid, 27, from Sakopara village in Parbatipur upazila, died on the spot.
Injured Mohammad Hasan from the same area was taken to Birampur Upazila Health Complex.
In Joypurhat, a cattle trader was killed and two people were injured as a human haulier fell into a ditch beside Panchbibi-Chawkbharunia road in Bhatkota village of Panchbibi upazila yesterday.
Keramat Ali Fakir from Uttar Joypur village in the district died instantly.
The injured -- Farid Hossain and Rezaul Karim -- were admitted to Panchbibi Upazila Health Complex, adds our correspondent.
In Chattogram, the driver of a lorry died after hitting another lorry from behind at Chattogram Port early yesterday.
Mohammad Belal, 35, from Bhola, was declared dead at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), said police officials at CMCH.
The accident occurred at Jetty no.13 after Belal lost control over his vehicle, said Mohiuddin Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Bandar Police Station.
In Rajbari, an elderly woman was killed as a truck ran her over while she was crossing Goalando-Rajbari road in Kolanpur area of Sadar upazila yesterday.
Morium Begum, 80, died on the spot. Police seized the truck but the driver managed to flee.
