Four killed in road crashes
At least four people were killed and five injured in road accidents in three districts yesterday, report our correspondent and a news agency.
In Gazipur, a woman and her nine-month-old daughter were killed and five injured after the bus carrying them fell into a roadside ditch at Mouchak Aambagan area in Kaliakair upazila in the morning, reports UNB.
The deceased are Fatema Begum (35) and Arbi, both residents of the same upazila.
Fatema and her daughter were killed on the spot. Police seized the bus but its driver managed to flee, said Sub-inspector Md Anwar Hossain of Salna-Konabari Highway Police Station.
In Chapainawabganj, two people were killed after a speeding truck hit their motorbike at Chiniatala area of Gomostapur upazila.
The deceased are Md Titu (30) and Serajul Islam (44), said police.
The accident occurred around 10am, leaving rider Titu dead on the spot and pillion Serajul critically injured.
Locals rushed Serajul to the upazila health complex. He was referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries on the way.
Police seized the truck but its driver fled.
