Four JnU students assaulted for protesting harassment

Four students of Jagannath University's (JnU) English department were assaulted for protesting the incident of harassment of a female student on the campus yesterday.

Around 1pm, three students of JnU Islamic History and Culture department: Samiul Shawon, Unus Kabir Razib and Hasanuzzaman stalked a female student of the English department and made indecent gestures at her.

When four other students of English department protested the incident, the trio assaulted them.

The victims and the female student submitted a written complaint to JnU Vice-Chancellor Prof Mijanur Rahman in this regard.

In the complaint, they urged the VC to ensure their security on campus and demanded exemplary punishment of the three attackers.

“We are investigating the matter and will take steps soon,” said VC Mijanur Rahman.
