4 dead, 16 injured in road accidents
Four people died and sixteen were injured in road accidents across two districts yesterday.
In Natore Sadar, two were killed and fifteen injured in two separate accidents in the district's Baraigram upazila.
The deceased were identified as Saifat Ali, 40, from Dhaptitli and Rahela Begum, 32, from Baraigram.
Faridul islam, ofiicer-in-charge (investigation) of Natore Sadar Police Station, said Saifat was killed and 15 other cattle traders were injured after the human haulier they were travelling in overturned beside a road ditch.
In the same upazila, a bus ran over Rahela Begum while she was crossing the road in Garmati area on Natore-Pabna highway.
In Dinajpur, at least three people, including a minor, were killed and a man was injured in two separate road accidents in Sadar and Birganj upazilas.
The deceased are Birganj upazila residents Jahura Begum, 50; her granddaughter Jui Akter, 5, and Chirirbandar upazila's Hasan Ali, 42.
Jahura and Jui were on the pillion seat of Md Sajib's motorcycle when a speeding truck hit them at Koikuri village near Birganj-Gopalganj road at 2pm.
They died on the spot. Sajib was severely injured.
In Dinajpur Sadar upazila's Mohanpur area, Hasan Ali was returning home on a motorcycle late Tuesday night when a truck hit him, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rushed him to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to injuries yesterday morning.
