Forensic doctor suspects victim was raped before murder
The girl, whose body was recovered from the toilet of an abandoned carriage at Kamalapur Railway Station on Monday, was raped before being murdered, a forensic doctor suspects.
Asma Akhtar was choked to death and signs of rape were found, Pradip Biswas, lecturer of forensic medicine department at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), told The Daily Star after an autopsy.
DNA samples and viscera have been collected for further analysis, he said.
Police could contact her family members in Panchagarh as they found her birth certificate near the body.
Asma’s father Abdur Razzaq said his daughter left home on Sunday morning without telling anyone and had been traceless since then.
Sub-inspector Rusho Banik of Dhaka Railway Police Station said Asma’s uncle Raju filed a murder case accusing her classmate Badhan.
Asma’s father claimed that she was in a relationship with Badhan, who left home on Sunday as well. Police are trying to arrest Badhan, the SI said.
