Five 'JMB' men arrested in Nilphamari
Five suspected members of Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) were arrested on Thursday from a house in Domar upazila in Nilphamari, police said.
The arrestees were identified as house owner Abdul Jalil, 45, his wife Rashida Begum, 35, their tenant Sonia Begum, 35, her sister Sumi Akhtar, 28, and one Saiful Islam, 30, said Moksed Ali, officer-in-charge of Domar Police Station.
Tipped off, a team of lawmen raided the house and arrested the five while they were conducting a secret meeting.
Several cell phones, SIM cards and jihadi books were also recovered from their possession.
Sonia Begum rented the house one month ago and was involved in “mysterious activities,” the OC said quoting locals.
Ten days ago, her sister Sumi and Saiful came to live with her, he added.
Superintendent of Police in Nilphamari was interrogating the arrestees during the filing of this report.
