Fifth-grader killed in road crash
A fifth-grader was killed after a speeding microbus hit her in Egaro-mile area in Kaharol upazila of Dinajpur yesterday.
The deceased Asma Khatun (11), daughter of Montu Mia, was a student at Itua Adivasi Govt Primary School.
Police said Asma was returning home after taking her PECE exam. The accident occurred when she was passing the area. She died on the spot.
The microbus driver fled the scene, police said.
Meanwhile, at least three people were killed and four injured in other accidents in three district yesterday, our correspondents report.
In Rangamati, college student Asingching Marma was killed and four were injured after a truck hit the CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying them in Kalabagan area of Kawkhali upazila, said police, quoting locals. Asingching was a first-year economics student at Rangamati Government College. She died on the spot.
Police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee.
Two of the injured were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital as their conditions were critical.
In Faridpur, Sattar Howladar (75) was killed after a motorbike hit him at Khatra village in Bhanga upazila around 7:30am, said police.
After the accident, locals took Sattar to the upazila health complex where an on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Police seized the motorbike but its driver fled the scene.
In Natore, tractor driver Somrat Hossain (28) was killed after a truck collided with his vehicle in Tilokpur area of Lalpur upazila, said police.
