Ex-speaker Humayun Rashid Choudhury's wife passes away
Mehzabin Rashid Choudhury, wife of former Jatiya Sangsad speaker Humayun Rashid Choudhury, passed away yesterday at the age of 89. She breathed her last at United Hospital in the morning.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday visited the residence of Mehzabin to pay her respects and console the bereaved family members, said PM's Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokan.
“Hearing the news, the prime minister and her sister Sheikh Rehana rushed to Mehzabin Rashid's Lalmatia home in the morning,” he said. The PM consoled the family members and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Earlier in a condolence message, Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of Mehzabin. The premier recalled with profound respect Mehzabin Rashid's overall support to her and her younger sister, including giving them shelter in Germany, despite many adversities after the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15, 1975.
President Abdul Hamid also expressed deep shock at Mehzabin's death.
