Ex-Sonagazi OC seeks bail again

Former officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonagazi Police Station Moazzem Hossain has again sought bail from the High Court in a case filed on charges of recording a statement of madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi and circulating the video on social media.

Moazzem submitted the bail petition to the HC on July 31 through Advocate Rana Kawser, in the case filed under the Digital Security Act.

In the bail petition, Moazzem stated that he is unwell, will not leave the country and will face the trial proceedings of the case if he is granted bail, Advocate Rana Kawser told The Daily Star.

He said the HC may hold hearing on the bail petition today or tomorrow.

On April 15, Supreme Court lawyer Syed Sayedul Haque Suman filed the case with Dhaka Cyber Tribunal against Moazzem under Digital Security Act, for recording the statement of sexual assault victim Nusrat on camera without her consent, and circulating it on social media.
