Employee withdrawn for ‘taking drugs at office’

Mymensingh District Administration has withdrawn the head clerk of Phulpur upazila land office on Thursday night after a video of him taking drugs at office went viral on social media.

Sher Mahbub Murad, additional deputy commissioner (revenue) of Mymensingh, said the withdrawn employee Samir Kumar Chakraborty, who was also an accountant at the office, was seen taking yaba inside the office building in a video.

The clerk was withdrawn in the evening and the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Phulpur was asked to submit a report regarding the matter within a short period, said the ADC.

The clerk has been shifted to the deputy commissioner’s office, informed the ADC.

UNO of Phulpur Md Saiful Islam said he has already started investigating the matter and departmental action will be taken if Samir is found guilty.

The head clerk could not be contacted as his phone was found switched off.
