EC's neutrality in question: LDA

Left Democratic Alliance (LDA) yesterday expressed anger over “continuous violation” of electoral code of conduct by the ruling Awami League ahead of the 11th parliamentary polls.

The coalition of eight left-leaning political parties also questioned about neutrality of the Election Commission (EC), alleging that the EC is giving privilege to the AL in this regard by not taking actions, said a press release.

They (AL) are doing publicity through an advertisement titled “Thanks to PM”, which has been made using government funds. Their colourful billboards, banners, festoons and posters are yet to be removed; and election expenses of many AL nomination seekers have crossed limit, said the LDA leaders.

People of the country have already raised questions about the EC's role, they said.
