Ducsu VP attacked in Patuakhali
A group of miscreants attacked Nurul Haque Nur, vice president (VP) of Ducsu, at Ulania Bazar area in Patuakhali’s Galachipa upazila yesterday.
Nur was travelling to Dashmina upazila town from his home village Char Biswas to meet his sister. On the way at around 1:30pm, the group forced him into a shop and beat him up.
On information from locals, a team from Galachipa Police Station rushed to the spot and rescued him. They took him to Galachipa Upazila Health Complex where he underwent primary treatment.
Five people who were accompanying Nur were also injured.
Akhter Morshed, officer-in-charge of Galachipa Police Station, confirmed the incident but could not ascertain the identities of the attackers. None of the attackers were caught as they had already fled the scene.
Md Fahim, a student of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, who was accompanying Nur, said the attackers beat up Nur with iron rods and sticks.
This correspondent tried to contact Nur on phone several times but could not reach him. However, one of Nur’s travel companions, Rubel, a student of Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, alleged that the attackers comprised of local Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL)
and Jubo League members.
Sharif Ahmed Asif, secretary of Galachipa upazila unit of BCL, denied the allegations and said no BCL member was involved in the attack, adding that they even helped police rescue Nur.
No case was filed in this connection till the time of filing this report.
