Doctors’ remarks on Mashrafe unacceptable
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Murad Hasan, at a programme yesterday, said some doctors’ comments on lawmaker and cricketer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza on social media -- using derogatory language -- was regrettable.
He was addressing “Iftar O Doa Mahfil” organised by Bangladesh Medical Association’s (BMA) Chattogram chapter at a community centre in the port city.
“The honourable prime minister also feels troubled, after seeing the remarks on Mashrafe,” said Murad.
Murad said the show-cause notice sent to the respective doctors should act as a message to all doctors on how they should behave.
During a visit to Narail Sadar Hospital on April 24, Mashrafe found four doctors were not at work. A video of his visit went viral on social media and sparked huge criticism against the absentee doctors, prompting their suspension. However, a number of doctors questioned the language Mashrafe used while talking to one of the absentees over phone.
