‘Do not belittle any religion’
Jagannath University (JnU) authorities have issued a notice urging all its students; teachers; officials and staff members to refrain from making statements that belittle any religion.
The notice, signed by JnU Registrar Md Ohiduzzaman, was issued on April 25, and specifically asked all to refrain from making such comments and writings on posters, leaflets, electronic media and social media including Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and other platforms.
“If anyone from JnU is found to have published any content that belittles or insults a religion, authorities will take appropriate legal actions against him or her,” the notice reads. Earlier on April 9, JnU authorities wrote to Dhaka Metropolitan Police, asking them to take steps against Forhad Hossain Fahad, a student of Bangla department, for making derogatory remarks on religion on Facebook on April 4.
