DIG Mizan, wife skip ACC quzzing
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Mizanur Rahman and his wife Sohelia Anar Ratna did not appear before the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) due to health reasons.
ACC's Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said Mizan and his wife have submitted their medical certificates in support of seeking more time to appear for interrogation by the ACC over illegally amassing wealth.
On September 19, the ACC summoned the DIG and his wife on yesterday's date (September 30) for quizzing.
Following a marital scandal in January, Mizan was withdrawn from the post of additional commissioner at Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Among various allegations that surfaced against Mizan are forcibly marrying a 25-year-old woman on July 15 last year and picking up a female news presenter of a private television channel at gunpoint in December the same year.
Mizan also allegedly issued threats to journalists of two different media outlets while talking to a TV presenter over the phone.
The ACC launched an enquiry when the allegation of amassing wealth beyond Mizan's known source of income surfaced.
