Dengue patient dies in Khulna
Another dengue patient died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Khulna yesterday morning, taking the death toll to 129.
However, the official figure of deaths stood at 57.
The deceased was identified as Rahima Begum, 60, wife of Baki Billah of Sonabaria village under Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira.
Rahima was admitted to Gazi Medical College Hospital with fever on Monday afternoon and breathed her last around 8:30am yesterday, our Khulna correspondent reported, quoting the hospital’s director Dr Ananda Mohon Shaha.
After her death, her husband -- also suffering from dengue, was sent to Dhaka for better treatment, the doctor added.
Meanwhile the pressure of dengue patients in different hospitals has started to wane as currently 3,746 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals across the country. Of them, 2,111 are in Dhaka.
According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 783 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in 24 hours till 8am yesterday, of whom 396 are in Dhaka.
The total number of dengue patients rose to 72,745. Among them, 41,838 are in Dhaka.
