Death of Dia-Rajib: Three more students testify before court

A Dhaka court yesterday recorded the testimonies of three more students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College, in connection with the case filed over the death of two of its students.

On July 29, two Jabal-E-Noor Paribahan buses allegedly raced each other moments before one of them ploughed into a crowd killing Abdul Karim Rajib, 18, and Dia Khanam Mim, 17, in Kurmitola.

A case was filed with Cantonment Police Station by Dia's father Md Jahangir.

Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court recorded the statements of Md Rahat, Sajib Sheikh and Imon Chowdhury, who were injured in the accident. They were also cross-examined by the defense counsel.

In their statements, the students said, at 12:30pm they were waiting at the bus stop when two buses of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan were approaching recklessly. One of the buses ploughed into them injuring 15 students. Dia and Rajib, who were critically injured, died at Kurmitola General Hospital.
