DCI and RSC hold free eye camp in Keraniganj
A free eye screening camp for underprivileged people -- organised by The Distressed Children & Infants International (DCI), and Rights and Sight for Children (RSC) -- was held at Hizla Government Primary School in Keraniganj, Dhaka yesterday, says a press release.
A total of 447 people including children received treatment from the camp. Of them, 43 patients were diagnosed with cataracts and 139 with refractive errors. Patients with the refractive error will receives glasses on July 29 at the school. They will be provided with corrective surgeries and eyeglasses free of cost.
The cataract patients will undergo surgeries accordingly on July 21 at BNSB Eye Hospital, Mirpur. A total of 404 patients received medicine.
A group of doctors from BNSB Eye Hospital provided treatment at the camp.
DCI Founder and Executive Director Dr Ehsan Hoque said, “It is our commitment to provide eye care to all who are insolvent. Nobody will be left behind, and we will do whatever is necessary for the visually impaired.”
Aminul Islam, member, Ward-2, Sakta Union, Keraniganj; Sofikul Islam, president, governing body of the school, were, among others present at the eye camp.
