Ctg prime mover-trailer workers call indefinite strike
Chattogram Prime Mover-Trailer Sramik Union yesterday declared an indefinite strike from today, demanding arrest of the killers of one of their fellows.
Abu Bakkar Siddiqui, general secretary of the union, announced the strike during a press conference at Chattogram Press Club.
Siddiqui said, “Police earlier assured us of arresting the culprits immediately.”
“As no arrest was made even four days after the incident, we enforced the strike,” he said, adding that the strike will start at 6am today. Prime mover-trailers are used in transporting goods from Chattogram Port to various depots.
Shahjahan Saju, 48, a driver of Tahsin Enterprise, was shot dead inside one of its motor garage in Kalu Shah shrine area of Sitakunda on Wednesday.
After the incident, victim’s wife Shahida Akhter filed a case with Sitakunda Police Station accusing Md Masum, another employee of the firm.
Sub-Inspector Saiful Alam, also investigation officer of case, said they are trying to arrest the culprits.
