Corruption prevalent worldwide: Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday described the pillow scam in Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant and curtain procurement irregularity in Faridpur Medical College Hospital as a “pilferage.”
“The curtain and pillow scams are nothing but pilferage. No MP or minister did this... The government is ensuring punishment for whoever engages in corruption,” Quader.
He made the remarks while talking to reporters after visiting the newly-constructed Bhulta flyover in Narayanganj yesterday noon.
Quader said there is some corruption in Bangladesh, a country of 17 crore people.
“Corruption is the way of life across the world. It is not limited to Bangladesh,” he added.
Citing the government’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption, Quader said, “Many of our lawmakers are facing legal battle in connection with corruption allegations brought by the Anti-Corruption Commission.”
“Charges have been framed against many of them while many others have been tried. No one will be spared if they indulge in corruption,” he added.
