Constitution was violated on Dec 30
Gonoforum President Dr Kamal Hossain yesterday said the constitution of the country was violated on December 30, as people were denied from casting their votes on that day.
“Many said December 30 election was a farce; many termed it drama. I believe that people of the country will not accept it. We will do whatever we have to do,” he said at a discussion in remembrance of Rashid Suhrawardy, recently-passed son of Shaheed Suhrawardy, at Jatiya Press Club.
Kamal, also the top leader of Jatiya Oikyafront, said democracy is the key principle of Bangladesh's constitution.
“After the election, Awami League said they will stay in the office for five years. They humiliated the people of the country by saying so. It cannot be accepted.”
Former caretaker government adviser Mainul Hosein said politics has become a business, and the country's politics is already ruined.
BNP standing committee member Abdul Moyeen Khan said liberal democracy is absent in the country, and there is vengeance all around in the name of politics.
He urged the people of the country to show respect to each other, irrespective of political differences.
