Conflict resolution needed for a truly advanced nation
One Light Institute (OLI) of USA and Centre for Tajuddin Ahmad Research and Activism (CTARA) jointly organised a Conflict Resolution Skill-Building Workshop for the second time at the general auditorium of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro in the capital’s Banglamotor on Saturday, said a press release.
In presence of OLI President Sharmin Ahmad, daughter of Tajuddin Ahmad, and CTARA President Aftab, the day-long training was conducted by Dr Amr Abdalla who is a Professor Emeritus of the United Nations’ University for Peace (UPEACE). The guest of honour was Barrister Amir-ul Islam, author of the proclamation of independence of Bangladesh, and lawyer Labiba Zaman, daughter-in-law of Sohel Taj.
Sharmin Ahmed said, “Conflicts will arise as long as the human society remains in existence. In a restless era, humanity needs to develop skills in resolving conflicts -- whether domestic, social or global -- through peaceful means. A nation can be truly advanced, if they can do so.”
The workshop provided training and certification to 35 participants. This training will play an important role in their workplace, especially in higher education abroad, said Dr Amr Abdalla.
