Confce on language, culture begins at DIU
Two-day international conference titled "Postcolonial Perspectives: Language, Literature and Culture and the Global South" began at Daffodil International University (DIU) in its 71 Milonayoton yesterday, says a press release.
Bill Ashcroft, professor emeritus of the University of New South Wales in Australia, inaugurated it as chief guest. Prof Fakrul Alam delivered the keynote presentation at the inaugural session.
Prof Himadri Lahiri from Netaji Subhas Open University, Kolkata joined the conference as a plenary speaker.
DIU Vice Chancellor Prof Yousuf M Islam presided over the ceremony while pro-VC Prof SM Mahabub-Ul-Haque Majumder was present as the guest of honor. The university's English department head Md Rakibur Rahman Khan delivered the welcome address.
Notable Bangladeshi academics -- Prof AMM Hamidur Rahman, Prof Niaz Zaman and Prof Kaiser Haq -- are scheduled to attend the conference.
