CCC election: Only 99 votes cast in six and a half hours at Shahidnagar Girls School centre

Only 99 out of 2,176 votes were cast in the last six and a half hours at the poll centre at Shahidnagar City Corporation Girls High School in Chattogram's Lalkhanbazar thanks to frequent clashes between the Awami League backed and rebel AL councilor candidates.

Bashir Ahmed, presiding officer of the polling station refused to give the statistics of votes cast in his centre.

This correspondent later collected the total number of votes cast as of 2:42pm through visiting all five polling booths.

Total votes cast in the polling centre was 79 as of 11:30am, according to the polling officers of the polling stations.

That means only 20 votes were cast in the last two and a half hours since 11:30am.

In all the five booths, supporters of AL candidates were seen roaming around in presence of law enforcement agencies and polling officials.

Several AL men barred this correspondent while entering the polling booths and asked to leave the polling centre.
