Cattle trader killed in Rajshahi
Muggers killed a cattle trader on a running truck in Rajshahi on Wednesday night and snatched Tk 2.50 lakh from him.
Police recovered the body of Jorip Ali, 36, from Kukhandi area in the city at 11pm, where miscreants had dumped his body, said Zillur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Katakhali police station.
Jorip, a cattle trader of Singra upazila in Natore went to Rajshahi City Haat to buy cattle. His father Alal Mridha and uncle Rashedul Islam were accompanying him, the OC said, quoting his relatives.
Without buying any cattle, they were returning home in a truck.
Departing the market at 7pm, the truck stopped at Nawdapara and took four other persons on board, before heading towards Natore.
Shortly after, the four unknown persons equipped with sticks and iron rods asked them to give up their belongings.
They searched Alal and Rashedul and found nothing with them. They then tied the two up with ropes.
Jorip denied to hand them the money, and they beat him dead with a rod.
After the murder, the truck wandered around Rajshahi for more than two hours and later left them at Kukhandi area.
Jorip’s father Alal Mridha filed a case with Katakhali police station accusing the four unknown persons, and the truck’s unidentified driver and his helpers.
