CARE Bangladesh holds events in three upazilas
CARE Bangladesh observed National Disaster Preparedness Day in collaboration with the administrations in Cox's Bazar Sadar, Ramu and Moheshkhali upazilas.
On the occasion, 16 multi-purpose cyclone shelters (MPCS) were handed over to relevant administrations after carrying out refurbishment work, said a press release.
Funded by USAID, CARE Bangladesh in association with the government is implementing "Promoting Resilience to Risks of Natural Hazards (PRERONA)" in the three upazilas. The project is being implemented to improve MPCS.
In Moheshkhali, MP Ashek Ullah Rafiq, the chief guest, led a rally where children from different schools took part. Later, he attended a ceremony where refurbished Notun Bazar Govt Primary School-Cum Cyclone Shelter was handed over to local education administration. Moheshkhali UNO Md Jahirul Islam presided over the meeting.
Other refurbished schools were handed over to school authorities in a separate programme at the office of Cox's Bazar Sadar UNO Md Mahmul Ullah Maruf, where government officials and members of school management committee were present.
