The business partner of a man, whose wife and uncle were killed in Pallabi two days ago, was remanded by a Dhaka court yesterday.

Ashraful Alam Chisti Shahin, managing director of electrical equipment supplying company Independent Power Ltd, will be interrogated in police custody for four days.

He was shown arrested in a murder case filed by Zahidul Islam, the widower of Sweetie Khatun, 25.

Sweetie, chairperson of Independent Power, and Zahidul's uncle Aminul Islam, 46, were hacked to death in her house on Wednesday.

The case statement says Zahidul, a sub-assistant engineer of Dhaka Electric Supply Company Ltd (Desco), also director of Independent Power, had disputes with Shahin over partnership of Independent Power.

Sources at Dhaka Medical College morgue said Aminul's body bore nine wounds, while Sweetie sustained one injury.

Police were trying to unearth the reason behind the murder and also suspect Zahidul.
