Burglary at Star journo's house
Burglars reportedly stole valuables from the house of a Daily Star journalist in the capital's Mohammadpur.
They took gold ornaments worth around Tk 4 lakh and Tk 15,000 in cash from his Noorjahan Road residence when he was out of town, said Refayet Ullah Mirdha, a senior reporter of the newspaper. The thieves broke into the house and took away the valuables sometime between Monday and Wednesday night, he said.
Refayet said they left their flat around 3:30pm on Monday to attend a family gathering in Mymensingh.
On Wednesday night, one of his neighbours informed him over phone that the lock was broken, he said. When Mirdha returned yesterday morning, he found the valuables missing. A case was filed with Mohammadpur Police Station in this connection.
