BNP leader Delwar's 8th anniversary of death today
BNP and its associate bodies will observe the 8th death anniversary of its former secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain today.
Besides, Khandaker Delwar Hossain Smrity Parishad and Manikganj unit BNP will also mark the day.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir along with other central leaders will offer fateha and place wreaths at Delwar's grave in Manikganj's Pachuria.
They will also join a mild mahfil at the late BNP leader's Manikganj residence after Zohr prayers.
A mild mahfil will also be held at BNP's Nayapaltan central office at 12pm.
Mirza Fakhrul issued a message yesterday, recalling Delwar's contributions to the party.
Born in Manikganj on February 1, 1933, Delwar was elected MP four times and became chief whip of Jatiya Sangsad. A freedom fighter, Delwar was involved with BNP since its birth.
Moments before she was sent to jail in 2007, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia had nominated Delwar the party secretary general expelling Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan.
Delwar was also elected party secretary general in the party's 5th national council.
He died of old-age complications at Singapore's Mount Elizabeth Hospital on March 16, 2011.
