‘BNP engaged in information terrorism’
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is engaged in spreading “information terrorism” among countrymen over Khaleda Zia’s health, Information Minister Hasan Mahmud said yesterday.
He was talking to reporters after being accorded a reception at Shah Amanat International Airport by his party men.
At least a thousand supporters thronged the airport to receive him after being elected joint general secretary of Awami League.
The information minister said Khaleda Zia’s illness is nothing new. She served as the prime minister and carried out her duties as the chairperson of a party even with this illness, he said, adding that BNP constantly spreads “distorted information” over her illness.
Hasan Mahmud said “Bangabandhu’s daughter, Sheikh Hasina, has given me the responsibility of the party’s joint secretary. I have taken this as a challenge. I will do my best to preserve the dignity of the post and will work to uphold the confidence she has confided in me.”
