Bishwo Shahitto Kendro awards 447 readers
Bishwo Shahitto Kendro (BSK) yesterday awarded 447 students of Azimpur Government Girls School and College under its book reading programme.
The awardees were selected in four categories -- whoever finished reading eight books were placed under the category of "Shagoto", 10 books under "Shubhechchha", 13 under "Abhinandan", and 16 under "Shera Pathok".
The students were selected through an evaluation test and given prizes at a programme held in the school auditorium, in association with bKash.
Addressing the programme, Founder and President of BSK Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed urged students to read books regularly and become enlightened humans.
Principal Hasibur Rahman of Azimpur Government Girls School and College stressed the need of libraries with good books in schools, so that students can be motivated to read more.
BSK has been conducting the book reading programme for 40 years. At present, almost 25 lakh students from 14,000 educational institutions of the country are included in the book programme.
The mobile financial service bKash is associated with the initiative since 2014.
