BCL INFIGHTING: JnU suspends four students over clashes
Four students of Jagannath University were suspended yesterday following their involvement in the clashes between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the campus on Sunday, authorities said.
The suspended students are: Shahriar Rahman Shanto, Towhidul Islam Tuhin, Mehedi Hasan Moon and Ashraful Al Rifat – all activists of BCL JnU unit.
“The students were suspended for violating the university’s discipline,” said JnU Registrar Md Ohiduzzaman, adding, the four were found guilty following a primary investigation.
The authorities formed a three-member body led by JnU Proctor Prof Noor Muhammad to investigate the incident.
The fresh clashes on Sunday left at least 10 including the proctor and assistant proctor hurt.
Five university buses were vandalised on the campus. All the injured were rushed to Jagannath University Medical Centre. Three were later taken to hospitals.
Following the clash, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) suspended the JnU unit on Sunday evening.
