Arms Case: Khalid not produced at court ‘due to ijtema’
A Dhaka court could not took cognisance of the charge against Jubo League’s Dhaka South Organising Secretary Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan yesterday in an arms case, as jail authorities failed to produce him.
Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka set January 15 for the next hearing, after jail authorities informed the court that they could not produce Khalid due to Bishwa Ijtema.
On November 19 last year, ASP of Rab-3 Belayet Hossain who is also the investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge sheet before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court of Dhaka.

Rab also seized arms, bullets and yaba pills from his residence.
Khalid’s arrest came after a Rab mobile court detained and sentenced 142 people raiding the “casino” in Fakirerpool Youngmen’s Club and seized some blackjack tables, slot machines, Tk 24.29 lakh in cash, yaba pills, and some bottles of alcohol around 4:30pm on September 18.
The elite force also raided at least five clubs in the city on that date and detained, sentenced 182 people in connection with running casino business and drug abuse, and sealed off at least two clubs.
Later a total of four cases were filed against Khalid, three filed with Gulshan Police Station while another with Motijheel Police Station.
The cases were filed under the Firearms Act, Narcotics Control Act and Money Laundering Act.
