Anti-mosquito drive: DNCC fines establishments, houses Tk 3.7 lakh, files 19 cases
Dhaka North City Corporation authorities are continuing their anti-mosquito drive for the seventh day today and have fined houses and establishments Tk 3.7 lakh for presence of Aedes mosquito larvae.
At least 147 houses and establishments were fined and 19 cases were lodged today, according to a press release issued by the city corporation.
Mobile courts of the DNCC visited 13,773 houses and fined those with stagnant water allowing mosquitoes to breed on their premises.
The larvae were found in abandoned buckets, flower tubs, bottles, water-metres, garages, water hose, earthenware pots, broken mugs, floors, water-tanks, plastic containers, roof-drains, yoghurt pots, abandoned commodes, coconut shells, broken pots and basements.
DNCC began a 10-day combing operation in its area from June 6, to destroy all breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes, carriers of both dengue and chikungunya.
