Another Rajshahi University student has accused a teacher of sexually harassing her. The teacher had faced similar allegation earlier.
The student on Thursday filed a written complaint to the authorities against Bishnu Kumar Adhikary, an assistant professor of Institute of Education and Research (IER) at RU, office sources said.
Following the complaints, the IER authorities formed a three-member probe committee and withdrew Bishnu from academic duties, confirmed IER Director Prof Abul Hasan Chowdhury.
In yesterday’s complaint, the student alleged that Bishnu Kumar used to call her over the phone late at night and insisted her to talk for a long time.
She said the teacher often called her to his office and made her sit there for hours without any reason. He also used to humiliate her and used inappropriate words, she said in the complaint.
Earlier on Tuesday, another female student brought similar allegations against the teacher.
Bishnu Kumar, however, denied the allegations saying that he is a victim of conspiracy.
RU Proctor Prof Lutfor Rahman said the university authorities received those complaints. “We will look into the matter,” he added.
Following the incidents, the two female students filed separate general diaries (GD) with Motihar Police Station yesterday, seeking security, said OC Shahadat Hossain.
The students alleged that they were being pressurised to withdraw the complaints.
