Air link with all countries to continue
State Minister for Civil Aviation Md Mahbub Ali yesterday said air communication with all countries will continue in compliance with health regulations, as no decision was taken yet to suspend air communication with any country.
The junior minister said this while talking to reporters after inaugurating a rooftop restaurant at the Parjatan Bhaban, the headquarters of the Bangladesh Tourism Corporation, in the capital's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
Replying to another question, the state minister said following lift of ban on flight operations by respective countries due to new strain of Covid-19 including Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh will immediately resume flights to those countries.
At the programme, Mahbub Ali said now is the era of competition. In order to survive in the competition, it is necessary to increase the quality of service of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation and gain the trust and confidence of people.
"There is no alternative to achieving customer satisfaction other than increasing the quality of service," he said.
The 150-seat restaurant with an area of 6,600 square feet on the open roof of the tourist building is equipped with state-of-the-art furnishings, and is open for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. Owned by Bangladesh Tourism Corporation, it has round-the-clock elevators and basement parking for customers.
The state minister further said the tourism industry, like other sectors of Bangladesh, is also moving forward. At present, under the direction of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Bangladesh Tourism Board and Bangladesh Tourism Corporation have taken various initiatives for the development of tourism.
Chairman of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation Ram Chandra Das presided over the function while Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism MdMohibul Haque and Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Tourism Board Jabed Ahmed, among others were present as special guests.
