On the occasion, the school organised a discussion and cultural programme at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro in the capital, where its teachers, students, management, donors and civil society representatives took part.
Speaking at the event, Abul Hussain Ahmed Kamal, a former professor of Dhaka University and adviser of the school, said the school and people involved with it are working for social change.
"The dedication and sacrifice they have shown, to ensure education for underprivileged children, is exemplary. If we could establish more such schools, we would see a baggier social change," he said.
Abul Hasan Rubel, the founder of Amader Pathshala, said they have a bigger plan cantring the school, such as establishing a permanent campus and giving it a complete institutional structure.
"I urge people of different walks of life and institutions to become a part of our endeavour. I also request the government to donate us a piece of land to build the campus," he added.
Tofazzal Hossain, head teacher and one of the initiators of the school, said at the beginning, they thought the school would shut down soon due to financial crisis. "But we didn't have to because of help from some people."
"I would like to express my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to these people. I also thank the teachers and others staff who are giving their hard labour without thinking of a better salary," he said.
