Aga Khan Council discussion highlights cosmopolitan ethics

Chairman and founder of Brac Sir Fazle Hasan Abed has said cosmopolitanism is “acceptance and appreciation” of the fact that human beings will choose to express themselves in different ways.

He was addressing a programme on Saturday, arranged by the Aga Khan National Council for Bangladesh (AKNCB), celebrating the conclusion of the diamond jubilee of the Aga Khan, with a session on “Cosmopolitan Ethic in Action” at the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Centre, Bashundhara.

President of AKNCB Sulaiman Ajanee said the diamond jubilee provides a significant opportunity to reflect on the vision of Aga Khan, efforts of Aga Khan Development Network and on the ethics and values that underpin these efforts, one of which is the “cosmopolitan ethic”.

Managing Director of Mohammadi Group Dr Rubana Huq also spoke at the programme, which was attended by members of the academia, representatives of civil society, business leaders and members of the Ismaili community.
