Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid yesterday announced necessary actions against educational institutions which collected extra registration fees from SSC candidates.
He also directed ministry officials to investigate the matter for taking actions, saying that the institutions have to return the money to the students.
The minister made the announcement at a discussion with a delegation of teachers, held at the secretariat in the capital, according to a press release.
“There are allegations that some institutions are taking extra money for filling up SSC forms. News reports have also been published in this regard. Actions will be taken against those who are taking extra money by violating policy,” said Nahid.
Several schools have allegedly collected exorbitant registration fees from SSC candidates. Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) sent a team to a school in the capital after receiving one such complaint.
After that, ACC requested the cabinet division to take necessary actions against educational institutions that collected extra fees from students.
