ACC sues UP chairman over stealing relief rice
Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday sued a union parishad chairman and three others in Pabna on charges of stealing relief materials.
They are Khandaker Md Atiar Hossain, chairman of Ataikula Union Parishad; Milon Hossain; Uzzal Hossain, the UP chairman’s driver; and Rabiul Islam, a rice trader.
Mostafizur Rahman, deputy assistant director of ACC, filed the case.
According to the case statement, local administration seized 16 sacks of relief rice from Rabiul’s shop on August 15.
The UNO concerned raided the UP office and seized 22 more sacks of rice. ACC later found that they kept the rice for sale.
ACC also sued a deed writer assistant and his wife for embezzling wealth worth Tk 48.63 lakh.
Shahidul Alam, assistant director of ACC in the district, filed the case against Jahid Hossain, a deed writer assistant at Ishwardi land registration office; and Asma Parvin, his wife.
