ACC files cases against district registrar, surveyor in Ctg
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday filed two cases against five persons, including a district registrar and land surveyor, on charge of embezzling Waqf state land worth Tk 130 crore, amassing wealth worth Tk 64.24 lakh beyond known sources of income, and concealing information.
The accused are Md Lutfur Rahman, Nilphamari district registrar; Trisha Bhattacharia, advocate and deed writer of Court Hill of Chattogram; Md Jakir Hossain, deed receiver; Md Ataul Karim Osmani, witness of deeds; and Md Abdul Gafur, land surveyor of Rangamati District Administration.
ACC Assistant Director (AD) of Chattogram-1 Humayun Kabir filed a case with ACC’s Chattogram office accusing Abdul Gafur of amassing wealth worth Tk 64.24 lakh.
Deputy Director (DD) Shahin Ara Momtaz also filed a case accusing Lutfur Rahman and three others of embezzling 1.184 acres of Waqf state land, belonging to Hazi Gani Sowdagar, in 2012.
DD Lutfur Kabir Chandan said upon receiving information, the anti-graft watchdog has started investigation against the five to find any irregularities during their service.
“As part of our next course of action, the accused will be arrested in connection to the cases,” Lutfur said.
