ACC conducts drive at CCC
Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday conducted a drive at Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) to find out alleged anomalies in issuing trade licence.
The drive was conducted at Nagar Bhaban in Anderkilla area.
Afterwards, Lutful Kabir Chandan, deputy director of ACC Chattogram circle, told reporters that they got information about anomalies at CCC in issuing trade licence.
“People alleged that they were not given any money receipt against their licence approval. They said they were forced to pay double the fee set by CCC,” he said.
Chandan said their inquiry revealed that there is a lack of coordination between revenue officials and inspectors, leading to such bad practice. “We will continue our inquiry.”
Asked, Abu Shahed Chowdhury, secretary of CCC, told The Daily Star that ACC wanted to know the procedure of getting trade licence from them and they complied.
“After inspection, they went to the revenue circle to investigate if any anomaly takes place there. We will act as per ACC report in this regard,” he said.
