Abducted HSC examinee rescued
Police rescued an HSC examinee from Mymensingh city’s Sankipara area, hours after he was abducted.
The victim was Mahmudul Hasan Emon, 18, from Cantonment Public School and College. He used to live in shared accommodation in the city.
A police team led by officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Khandaker Shaker Ahmed raided Sankipara and rescued Emon on Wednesday. They later arrested one of the alleged abductors -- Mamun, 20, from Zainul Abedin Park the same noon. Mamun’s associate Polash, 22, is still at large, police said.
The OC said Emon was adducted allegedly by Mamun and Polash from his lodging on Tuesday night. They demanded Tk 50,000 from Emon’s family, who paid Tk 30, 000 through mobile banking, but the abductors did not release him, he said.
The family informed police early Wednesday, and police rescued Emon through mobile tracking, Shaker Ahmed said.
Emon lodged a case accusing Mamun and Polash. Mamun was produced before a court yesterday afternoon, that sent him to jail, the OC added.
