71pc of Padma Bridge project done: ministry
Road transport and bridges ministry yesterday informed the parliamentary standing committee on the respective ministry that 71 percent of the overall work of the long-awaited Padma Bridge project has been completed.
The ministry also informed that 81 percent work of the main bridge and 59 percent work of river training have been completed before June 30.
The ministry informed this at a meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on road transport and bridges ministry at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
In a report, the ministry informed the JS body of overall progress of different works of Padma Multipurpose Bridge project.
According to the report, Jajira and Mawa link roads, and construction of service area-2 have been completed.
A member of the committee said that they decided to visit Padma Bridge construction site after prorogation of the ongoing budget session, likely to end on July 11.
The parliamentary committee yesterday also recommended that the ministry take necessary measures for ensuring transparency and accountability in work of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) depot managers.
The meeting discussed the activities and future work plan of BRTC, along with implementation progress of ongoing mega projects under road transport and highways division and bridges division.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Enamul Hoque, Hasibur Rahman Shwapon, Abu Jahir, and Rejwan Ahammad Taufiq attended the meeting among other committee members.
