7-year-old run over by auto-rickshaw in Pirojpur
Three people were killed in road accidents in three districts yesterday, according to reports from our correspondents.
In Pirojpur, a seven-year-old schoolboy was killed as a battery-run auto-rickshaw ran him over in Bhandaria.
The deceased -- Reshad Islam, son of rickshaw-van puller Rafikul Islam -- was a first-grader of Jamirtala Government Primary School.
Aysha Siddika, head teacher of the institution, said the accident happened on Barishal-Bhandaria road while he was going to school.
Police seized the vehicle but the driver managed to flee, said Maksudur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Bhandaria Police Station.
In Bagerhat, a college student was killed as a truck hit him while he was riding a motorcycle on Bagerhat-Mongla highway in Shambagat of Fakirhat.
Shohanur Rahman Shohan, 18, son of Gias Uddin from Suvadiya village in Rampal, was returning home from Shahid Sriti Degree College in Fakirhat, said police.
In Patuakhali, a woman was killed after she had fallen onto a road from a moving motorbike in Charbiswas area of Galachipa.
Rabeya Begum, 32, wife of Jahirul Islam from Char Agostee, died at Galachipa Upazila Health Complex, said the doctors.
