6 'Jamaat-Shibir men' arrested

Six suspected members of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student front Islami Chhatra Shibir were arrested with improvised bombs and Jihadi books in South Keraniganj in Dhaka on Monday night.

“We suspect that they gathered there to carry out subversive activities,” said Shah Zaman, officer-in-charge of South Keraniganj Police Station.

He said they raided Hasnabad Housing building at night and arrested the men.

“We recovered four improvised bombs, a large number of Jihadi books and training materials from there,” he said.

Police named the arrestees as Joynul Abedin, Md Atiar Rahman, Md Tariqul Islam, Md Al Amin, Abu Taher and Md Kamaruzzaman Shamim.

A case was filed against them, the OC added.
