31 BNP men sent to jail

A Chattogram court yesterday sent 31 BNP leaders and activists to jail in connection with a case filed over conducting subversive activities in the port city last year.

The BNP leaders include former councillor of Chattogram City Corporation Jainal Abedin, said Public Prosecutor Fakhruddin Chowdhury.

Jainal was former president of Madarbari ward unit of BNP, he added.

The court of Chattogram Metropolitan Session Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha sent them to jail, rejecting their bail prayers, Fakhruddin said.

The case was filed with Sadarghat Police Station, said the pubic prosecutor. He, however, could not specify when the case was filed.
