3 sentenced to life term for raping woman

A Chattogram court yesterday sentenced three persons to life term imprisonment for raping a woman in Hathazari around two years ago.

The convicts -- Md Sohel, 30, Md Mohiuddin, 28, and Md Fayez, 30 -- are from Fatehpur in Hathazari.

Judge Md Motahar Ali of Women and Children Regression Prevention Tribunal-2 declared the verdict, said MA Naser, public prosecutor.

He said the trio sneaked into a house and raped the woman, mother of a minor, on the night of May 17, 2017. They held the child hostage at knifepoint and violated her.

Police arrested the criminals after the victim’s husband filed a case with Hathazari Police Station.
