3 sawmill workers lose lives in Pabna road crash
Three sawmill workers were killed and one of their co-workers was injured when logs fell on them from a truck that flipped over in Pabna town yesterday.
The incident took place in Nurpur area when the timber-laden vehicle veered off a bypass road in the morning, said police.
Md Shahin Alam, 50, from Baludiar village; Ahmad Ali, 48, from Atlanka village; and Rabiul Islam, 50, from Failzana village in Chatmohar upazila, died on the spot.
They along with other co-workers were walking towards their workplace in the area.
“The truck was being driven at high speed,” said Obaidul Haque, officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station. The accident took place around 7:00am as the driver lost his control over the steering.
The injured was admitted to Pabna General Hospital. Police seized the truck but its driver fled the scene, the OC added.
