3rd Women's Mathematics Olympiad held at DU
Third Women's Mathematics Olympiad 2019 was held at Dhaka University (DU) on March 8, on the occasion of International Women's Day.
The event was jointly organised by Women's Mathematics Olympiad Committee and AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation, for undergraduate female students in Bangladesh, said a press release.
It was also cooperated by the DU Department of Mathematics.
Around 255 students from 20 public and private universities participated in the daylong event.
The event was inaugurated by Sultana Kamal, former adviser to a caretaker government, at the mathematics department on the campus.
The Olympiad was held from 11am to 12:30pm. After the competition, a cultural programme and presentation by female students of the department were also held, followed by a certificate and prize giving ceremony.
The guests included Prof Dr Nasrin Ahmad, pro-vice chancellor, DU; Prof Dr Muhammad Abdul Aziz, dean of science faculty, DU; Luna Shamsuddoha, chairman of Janata Bank Ltd; Khushi Kabir, trustee of AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation, and Prof Amal Krishna Halder, chairman of mathematics department, DU.
